Starfield certainly divided opinion when it launched in 2023 (has it really been that long?), with some enjoying the role-playing potential, while others lamented it as a loading screen-filled exercise in patience.
While it seems the game is poised for a big year, with potential PS5 and Switch 2 ports, as well as a ‘version 2.0’ glow-up planned, there’s something even more exciting brewing in the modding community.
Star Wars Genesis is a collection of mods for Bethesda’s massive RPG that combine to form a total conversion of the underlying game, with a new main questline, Force powers, and much, much more.
Looking for an open-world Star Wars RPG? Check out the footage below, which shows a Mandalorian roaming the world, fighting Stormtroopers and AT-STs, and much, much more.
Mind-blowing, isn’t it? The mod’s site gives you a whole host of components that comprise the total conversion, which includes swapping weapons for Star Wars versions, fresh music, better enemy AI, and even bug fixes that Bethesda hadn’t got to yet.

“Star Wars Genesis is a free, fan-made total conversion project for Starfield, developed and continuously expanded by me, DeityVengy,” its creator explains.
“It is fully playable via the Wabbajack auto-installer and receives regular updates and expansions. While technically a modlist, calling it that feels like an understatement. This is not your typical modlist that combines every mod out there into a jumbled mess and calls it a day.”

“Countless mods and features within this modlist such as Coruscant, the Yuuzhan Vong Main Story, HUD, props, music, etc are made by me to work alongside other Star Wars mods made by other authors.”
“Many of its features, such as new enemy factions, bosses, unique locations, and original quest content, are exclusive to Genesis and cannot be found anywhere else.”
DeityVengy says Star Wars Genesis has its own lore which is similar to Star Wars canon but separate to allow for additional creative freedom, but it does make you wonder – why haven’t we got a massive open-world RPG in the Star Wars universe on current gen?
What’s missing, then? Well, Lightsabers, but they’re planned for this year, too.
While it’s no surprise to see a Bethesda game so readily supported by modders, it’s a genuinely incredible achievement, and it’s seemingly only going to get better.
