Marvel Reportedly Eyeing Joe Keery for Mystery MCU Role? Here Are 4 Characters Stranger Things Star Could Play

After making many swoon over his gorgeous hair, effortless charm, and awe-inspiring bat-swinging tricks, Joe Keery is reportedly under the Marvel radar. The success of Stranger Things on Netflix has sparked a wider conversation about the talent and range of the actor who rose to fame as the jock-turned-babysitter, Steve Harrington.

Though his character was supposed to die in the first season, the Duffer Brothers loved Keery’s portrayal so much that they decided to keep him alive, and fans will forever be grateful for this decision. In fact, many viewers decided to banish the show from their watchlist if anything happened to his character in the penultimate season. Thankfully, everyone survived, and we got to see him fulfil his dreams.

Moving on to newer roles and franchises, Keery is now being considered for a potential role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is on the verge of another great breakout with the Doomsday spectacle. Though the rumors suggested that he would be playing Harry Osbourne in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, here is a look at other roles that can be perfect for Keery.

1. Ghost Rider

After Nicholas Cage made the comic-book character a fan favorite overnight, Joe Keery would be a great choice to carry the character’s legacy forward in the MCU. Ghost Rider is known to be an angry, fury-filled character who fights injustice with every fibre of his being. He is not your average character; he cannot have downtime or relaxing situations. He is always on the move, on his signature bike, driven by wrath and a fire to make a difference.

Moreover, Ghost Rider is one of the most suave and charismatic characters in the comic book, which are exactly the aspects where Keery shines. With a little workout, Keery could get into the perfect shape and style to play Ghost Rider and bring his Harrington charm back.

2. Cyclops

All Marvel characters require a certain depth of emotion and hunger to make a difference in the world, whether it’s by saving people or by investing their time in inventions. Cyclops is another character who matches Keery’s range and versatility for that old-school charm and the ability to keep things light.

Keery can play Cyclops with just the right amount of righteousness and honesty. Cyclops is also the binding glue of the X-Men, and we all know that’s where Keery shines the most. He can play the role to perfection, especially if Marvel decides to reintroduce and fully integrate the X-Men into the MCU.

3. Nova

The reason why Nova is a great choice for Keery is because of his journey to becoming a hero. When the cosmic-level powers are dumped on him, he slowly learns how to channel those powers and make the most of them. He is not used to this burden of responsibility, but Nova proves successful in leaning into his destiny. Moreover, the character has a bit of arrogance that Keery can tap into well.

Keery can make the journey feel relatable and humorous for viewers, with a hint of cocky behavior that makes the character stand out. In Stranger Things, we saw Harrington begrudgingly become the protector of the group, fearless of any challenge that came his way. Similarly, we are confident that Keery can play Nova effortlessly.

4. Human Torch

We know Joseph Quinn has been cast as the Human Torch quite recently for Fantastic Four: First Steps, so recasting the character is a little way down the road. However, if Marvel decides to show variants of the character, Keery would be a great contender for the same. Keery can play a spoiled, arrogant manchild well and can also step up to make the most of his powers when the situation demands it.
